Environmental Policy
Borehole Wireline takes its environmental responsibilities seriously, and we are committed to achieving compatibility between the requirements of the client and maintenance of the environment. To fulfil this requirement the company shall observe all environmental laws and regulations and commits to:
- Discuss and resolve with the client any possible areas of environmental conflict.
- Integrate environmental considerations into our work procedures and planning
- At all times work towards improving our environmental performance.
- Actively promote environmental awareness amongst company personnel
Specifically we will do the following with regard to these following areas;
- Driving – we will stay on recognised and approved tracks wherever possible.
- Must avoid wherever possible native fauna and flora.
- Adhere to road-closed advice.
- Make sure our vehicles are well maintained and are not leaking fluids (coolant, oil or fuel).
- Vehicles are to be kept as clean as practicable so as to stop spread of contamination (weeds, radioactive waste).
With regards to radiation,
- Company operators take responsibility for radiation incident/accident reporting by reporting directly to the Company RSO who takes responsibility for all mine and agency reporting.
- All operators are bound by relevant states legislation in regard to Radiation safety.
- All logging vehicles are monitored for radioactive contamination by outside influences where applicable (e.g. uranium exploration).
Reporting:
All spills and environmental incidents will be fully investigated and reported. Any incident/accident in general whether witnessed or involved in will be reported. All reports will be in written format, on either client form or if no client forms then Company accident / incident /near miss form.
Vehicle fluids / disposal:
All oils, oil filters and the like will be disposed of by any of the following methods:
- At a garage.
- At the mine site service area, (with approval from appropriate mine official)
- At the company workshop.
Company vehicles will as is practicable not leak any fluids (coolant, oils or fuel) to the environment. Tyres, batteries etc will be disposed of in a safe and environmentally acceptable way.
- Discarded logs will be destroyed first (shredded / torn up).
- All litter will be disposed of in appropriated litterbins.
- All Digital data will be erased / destroyed before proper disposal.
Borehole Wireline will endeavour to recycle all non-hazardous materials, including domestic waste.
